ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd is founded on a series of fundamental principles that underpin it's entire ethos and operational function. At the very heart of these principles is the belief that the welfare of the young person in our care is of paramount importance and as such rises above all other criteria.
The commitment of ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd to this philosophy ensures that every young person who is placed in our care is not only given access to the opportunities they may have been denied previously but is also given the basic skills they will need in order to make the most of those opportunities and in so doing enhance their own lives and the lives of others.
By maximising their potential for personal growth and achievement in this way ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd will work with the young person towards the ultimate goal which is to oversee the development of a well adjusted, confident and valued member of the local community who is fully equipped and motivated to take their place in society and make a positive contribution towards it.
For this to be possible it is necessary to ensure that the environment and the circumstances relating to each young person are appropriate to meet the individuals assessed needs. This will require three distinct stages of intense and structured input each one essential to the success of the other.
Firstly, the young person is faced with the transition from the environment they have known to the one created by ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd. This in itself constitutes a major upheaval and makes even more important the provision of an environment that ensures that the young person will feel safe, secure and at ease in a loving, supportive and homely environment provided for them by staff who can compliment their professionalism and training with compassion and understanding.
For a young person who may have endured abuse in a variety of forms in addition to a disruptive home life where they may have been starved of the affection that every child should be surrounded with or where the parents were perhaps ill equipped to deal with a difficult child whose behaviour was unmanageable for them, then this stability in the young persons new environment and the building of a trusting relationship between them and ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd staff is regarded as an essential component in their life and will form the foundation upon which the past can be resolved and the future constructed.
Secondly, having established this trust with the young person and ensured that they are comfortable in their new stabilised surroundings, next comes the delicate task of helping each individual to come to terms with their past and to resolve the issues of concern for them and others.
This is a gentle process undertaken at the young persons own pace by trained staff the purpose of which is to enable the young person to address those issues that they may never have been able to speak of to anyone else. It may be necessary to reassure the young person that they are not to blame for the things that have happened to them and that the failings of others have had a bearing on their own situation. Only by bringing these issues out into the open in order for them to be dealt with appropriately can the construction of a new rewarding future be embarked upon.
An important factor for the young person in question in relation to the events of the past may be the way in which they feel they are viewed by society. Considering those past experiences which have had a negative effect work will also begin at this stage to help the young person to develop self esteem and a feeling of personal value. This is vital in the development of a young person's new persona as they need to believe in their own self worth before they can expect that belief to come from others.
Finally, the process continues into it's final stage which involves building a worthwhile and productive future. With the young person now established in a stable and comfortable home environment and having addressed the past issues that may have been responsible for the manifestation of difficult or inappropriate behaviours the young person has now achieved a position from which they are prepared to accept the opportunities and challenges that life has to offer and to make the most of them.
The entire process is designed to accept that the young person has potential, to equip them with the necessary and appropriate skills that they will require to accept the opportunities available to them that will ultimately lead to success in life.
Throughout this process ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd works in partnership with other agencies and individuals where appropriate to ensure that every care is taken to support and guide the young person. This inclusive approach involving input from therapists, educationalists, medical and social work practitioners plus, where possible, from family members, is designed to enable the young person to have an understanding of their own past and what has happened to them together with helping them to play a significant part in the ownership of their own future.
As the young persons placement draws to a close there are several options for the future that will be discussed in detail ensuring that all the partners mentioned earlier are involved. Among these options will be the possibility of the young person returning to live with their family wherever this is possible and appropriate. Alternatively, the young person may be placed in or return to foster care. It may also be thought appropriate for the young person to remain with ProActive-Solutions (GB) Ltd for a further possibly indefinite period during which time they will move to another location more appropriate for their current age and with differing age appropriate input with the emphasis being more geared towards life skills and independence.
